NBL1 South

The Hobart Chargers have confirmed their coaching structure for the 2026 NBL1 South season, with Jarrad Weeks returning to lead the men’s program and experienced coach Mark Chivers appointed as head coach of the women’s team.

The Hobart Chargers have confirmed their coaching structure for the 2026 NBL1 South season, with Jarrad Weeks returning to lead the men’s program and experienced coach Mark Chivers appointed as head coach of the women’s team.

Chargers Chair Dean Young said the appointments represent a positive step forward for the club.

“Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be invaluable for our women’s program, while Jarrad has quickly proven himself as a passionate and capable leader,” Young said.

Chivers returns to Hobart with decades of coaching experience across state, national and elite levels. Having previously coached 12 men’s seasons for the Chargers, he is recognised for his structured, team-first approach and ability to build connected and disciplined squads.

“I enjoy working with athletes who are committed to the team and the process,” said Chivers. “The Chargers have a proud reputation and a passionate community behind them. I’m looking forward to helping this group grow and take the next step.”

After an impressive debut campaign in 2025, Weeks returns with continuity and a clear vision for the Chargers men.

“I’m excited to be back,” Weeks said. “We’ve built a great culture and a connected group of players who are driven to improve. There’s a strong belief growing within this team, and I can’t wait to get to work again.”

With both programs under experienced leadership, Hobart will continue to focus on success on and off the court, strengthening community links, supporting local development pathways and representing Tasmania with pride at the national level.
