The Rockhampton Cyclones have announced their first signing for the upcoming NBL1 North season, securing Lara McSpadden.
The 6’4 power forward/centre comes to the Cyclones after playing the WNBL season with the Townsville Fire and is looking forward to being a focal point of the Rockhampton roster in 2021.
McSpadden has had previous stints with the Sydney Flames in the WNBL and has represented her country at the Under 17 and 19 levels.
“I couldn’t be happier being able to secure Lara for the upcoming season,” coach Ben Greany said.
“She brings great mobility and athleticism in that position and runs the floor extremely well and will provide a powerful inside presence for the group in 2021.
“Lara is WNBL quality and we are looking forward to her leading the front court for the Cyclones this season.”
McSpadden also can’t wait to arrive in Rockhampton.
“I couldn’t be happier to have signed with Rockhampton for the upcoming season,” McSpadden said.
“Rockhampton have done very well in the past couple of seasons so I can’t wait to add to the group by bringing my skill set to the table, and extend my game further to put ourselves in the best position to win a championship.
“I know the club is very community driven and involved, so to be able to play in front of enthusiastic home crowds will be amazing.”
