Frankston Blues (FDBA) have announced that Darcee Garbin will join the Blues for the upcoming NBL1 South season.
Garbin previously signed with Rockhampton to feature in NBL1 West but has now moved to the Blues ahead of the NBL1 South season, which commences on Saturday 17 April.
Garbin joins the Blues after spending last week in Queensland at the Australian Opals Camp with new Blues recruit point-guard Tessa Lavey, following her WNBL 2020 season with the Perth Lynx, averaging 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Head Coach Belinda Snell was ecstatic about Garbin joining the Blues.
“We are extremely excited to work with Darcee and looking forward to welcoming her to the Blues family,” she said.
“Darcee will be a strong inside presence and will be a great role model for our young blues players.”
“We can’t wait to see her in Blues uniform this season.”
Garbin also spoke about the decision to stay in Melbourne ahead of a big NBL1 season.
“I am very excited to be joining the Blues family,” she said.
“After speaking with Snelly and Wayne (Wayne Holdsworth, CEO) it was an easy decision to stay here in Melbourne between Opals commitments.”
“Everyone has been so welcoming and I can’t wait to get out there for round one.”
