Foketi signs with Meteors

Tongan national basketball team member Viliami Foketi has re-joined the Mackay Meteors for the 2021 NBL1 North season.

The 193cm forward had signed to play with Mackay last year before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19.

A dual Australian and Tongan citizen out of Sydney, the 25-year old has plied his basketball trade previously with the Penrith Panthers in the Basketball NSW Waratah League.

In the 2019 championship division, the states’ top men’s competition, Foketi averaged 11 points and five rebounds for the Panthers.

He joins Brad Rasmussen, Chris Cedar, Kye Medhurst, Freddy Webb, Lachlan Inkson, Riley Inkson, Max Cain, Aidan Collins and Sean Baker on Mackay's roster.
