Ipswich has announced the return of one of its favourite sons, Matthew Hodgson for the 2021 NBL1 North season.
This will be the first time that Hodgson will play for the Force's senior men’s team, after being an Ipswich Basketball Association Junior.
Along with this, Hodgson also attended Ipswich Grammar School.
From those humble beginnings, Hodgson has forged a career not seen by any other Ipswich representative.
He attended the Australian Institute of Sport, college in the United States (Southern Utah and St Mary’s) and is a cornerstone of countless seasons in the NBL.
A big man in stature, Hodgson has played for the Australian National teams and continues to be at the heart of the Brisbane Bullets' 2021 NBL Season.
Force coach Chris Riches was thrilled to have Hodgson onboard for NBL1 North.
"We are excited to see Matthew back on the floor at Ipswich," Riches said.
"This has been something we have talked about for a number of years.
"Everyone knows him here, he is held in high regard as a person and we often make reference to him when speaking to our juniors about what hard work, dedication and motivation looks like."
The Force tip-off for 2021 with an away clash against the Gold Coast Rollers on Saturday 15 May.
