Kubank commits to Pioneers

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have announced the signing of Tom Kubank for the club's debut NBL1 South season.

Kubank signed with the club for the 2020 season although following its cancellation, he returned to Adelaide and was able to play out a reduced fixture with the Sturt Sabres.

Prior to that, Kubank played with the West Adelaide Bearcats in 2019 where he played against the Pioneers in the club's stop-gap between the collapse of SEABL and the NBL1 competition.

Head Coach Richard Hill is excited to welcome Kubank to the Pioneers program, who has been in town since March preparing for the 2021 season.

"Tom is excited to hit the Ice House floor in Pioneers colours after the experience of playing against the Pioneers in 2019, when he was with West Adelaide," he said.

"Tom has benefited by being on the court playing in Adelaide’s limited fixture competition throughout 2020.

"His improvement over the years has been impressive and I am looking forward to working with him on the court in 2021."

Kubank is another talented young Adelaide player that has made Mount Gambier his destination of choice to aspire at playing at higher levels playing within the NBL1 South competition in 2021.

The return of basketball to the Ice House is highly anticipated for the Pioneers Basketball Club and the wider Mount Gambier community.

The NBL1 season is scheduled to start on Saturday 17 April against the Bendigo Braves at the Ice House.
