Local Hayden Richardson stays in Rockhampton

The Rockhampton Rockets have announced that local product Hayden Richardson has signed for the 2021 NBL1 North season.

The Rockhampton Rockets have announced that local product Hayden Richardson has signed for the 2021 NBL1 North season.

An energetic sharp shooting role player, with a basketball IQ well beyond that of his young age, Richardson is the ultimate team guy. Off the court Richardson is a well-rounded club-person and a role model to the younger Rockhampton basketball community.

After an extremely successful CQ Cup campaign with the Rockets in which he averaged 17 points per game and was a focal point of the offense, Richardson will be looking to build on that momentum during the 2021 NBL1 season.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and being part of the Rockets 2021 NBL1 season," Richardson said.

"I’ve been working hard in the off season to get my body right and be in the best physical shape possible for the commencement of the season, and I will be looking to take advantage of any opportunity given to me by Neal this season.

"The CQ Cup gave the local boys a great taste of what is required to compete and we need to take that to the next level as part of the NBL1 competiton."

Coach Neal Tweedy is looking forward to having Richardson back on board.

“Hayden had a really nice CQ Cup campaign and this year we will be calling on him to make some bigger contributions at the NBL1 level," Tweedy said.

"He’s been a part of the program for a few year now and we are looking forward to his continued development and very happy to have him as part of the Rockets program in 2021.”
