Only two games of hoops on Sunday of round 5, and in a doubleheader between Eastern Mavericks and Sturt Sabres, it was the latter who got the edge.
Sturt won both games fairly handily and sent a message to the rest of NBL1Central.
Check out how the games went below.
WOMEN
Eastern Mavericks (60) def by Sturt Sabres (78)
The Sturt Sabres are yet to lose a game this season, and against the Mavericks, they showed why, blowing them out to the tune of 18.
Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu and Oksana Gouchie-Provencher did their best to keep the game competitive, but the all-around scoring prowess of Sturt was too much, with four of their starting five hitting double digits.
EASTERN 60 (Lefebvre-Okankwu 17, Oksana Gouchie-Provencher 14, Natasha van der Wolff 9)
STURT 78 (Meg Prosser 19, Williams 17, Mathews 13)
MEN
Eastern Mavericks (63) def by Sturt Sabres (93)
While not quite as prolific as the women's team, the men haven’t been far off, and this 30-point obliteration of the Mvaricks showed exactly why.
Keouvion McCalop was the most impressive individual on the court - 36 points and 13 rebounds - but the combined play of Sturt’s Rigoni, Haygood and Nash made sure that the game was never in arms reach for the Mavericks.
EASTERN 63 (McCalop 36, Knibbs 10, Kennedy 7)
STURT 93 (Rigoni 21, Haygood 16, Nash 10)
