There were Saturday night NBL1 East wins in First Nations Round for the Bankstown Bruins, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, Sutherland Sharks and Hills Hornets.
The action for First Nations Round got underway on Saturday evening with a big win on the road for the Bankstown Bruins who defeated the Illawarra Hawks 103-64.
Lachlan Anderson was on fire for the Bruins with 43 points with six three-pointers. Harry Morris top-scored for Illawarra with 27 points.
It was a thriller at the Northern Beaches with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles holding out the Albury-Wodonga Bandits for the 82-80 win.
Indiana Faithful finished with 24 points and five assists for Manly-Warringah while Lochlan Cummings put up 23 points for Albury-Wodonga and Hamish Warden 22.
The Sutherland Sharks worked their way on top of the Central Coast Crusaders to end up winning 76-61 on their home court.
Lochlan Hutchison top-scored for the Sharks with 25 points with Jacob Cracknell putting up 17 points and seven rebounds for Central Coast.
The scoring might have been hard to come by but it didn’t stop the thrilling finish with the Hills Hornets holding on to defeat the Newcastle Falcons 55-54.
Paul Brotherson delivered 22 points and five rebounds for the Hornets while Myles Cherry top-scored for the Falcons with 16 points and 13 boards.
Round 13 in the NBL1 East Men's competition wraps up on Sunday afternoon with the Norths Bears hosting the Albury-Wodonga Bandits at 12pm, the Canberra Gunners at home to the Inner West Bulls at 1pm and the Bankstown Bruins taking on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at 2pm.

ILLAWARRA HAWKS 64 lost to BANKSTOWN BRUINS 103
The Bankstown Bruins headed to Wollongong and delivered quite the statement performance on Saturday night to beat the Illawarra Hawks by 39 points.
The Hawks were at home to the Bruins at The Snakepit and while Bankstown did open up an eight-point lead during the first term, it was only a five-point advantage by quarter-time.
It was still a tight affair by half-time too with the Bruins only leading the Hawks 46-41.
From there though, it was all Bankstown as they went on a 16-0 scoring run in the third quarter to lead by as much as 25 points.
By the final buzzer, the lead was out to 39 points with the Bruins scoring the emphatic 103-64 victory away from home.
Bankstown dominated the glass with 55 rebounds to 32 on the night including 16 at the offensive end to seven. The Bruins also shot at 47.4 per cent from the floor compared with 31.8 per cent from the Hawks.
Lachlan Anderson had a massive night for Bankstown in the win delivering 43 points, eight rebounds and four assists on the back of shooting 14/23 from the field, 6/12 from three-point range and 9/13 from the free-throw line.
Dragan Elkaz added 14 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and three steals for the Bruins, Nathaniel Musters 12 points and eight boards, and Nicko Timonera 12 points on 5/8 shooting.
Harry Morris produced 27 points and four rebounds for Illawarra while nailing 4/7 from three-point land with Sean Mullan contributing 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Fletcher MacDonald 11 points, six boards and four assists.
MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES 82 defeated ALBURY-WODONGA BANDITS 80
The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles held out the Albury-Wodonga Bandits for a thrilling two-point win at home on Saturday night.
The Sea Eagles played host to the Bandits at Northern Beaches Indoor Sports Centre and for much of the evening it was a tight battle until the home team pulled away throughout the second half.
Albury-Wodonga made an early break to lead by seven before Manly-Warringah hit back with 13 straight points of their own to lead by six, and then by quarter-time scores were tied at 21-21.
The Sea Eagles pulled away slighting in the second quarter with 26 points to 19 to end up taking a 47-40 edge into the half-time break.
The home team did pull out to a 15-point lead during the third period but by three quarter-time the Bandits were back within seven.
Again in the fourth term Manly-Warringah were out to a 13-point lead but Albury-Wodonga still threw everything at the big comeback and only fell two points short with the Sea Eagles ending up winning 82-80.
Indiana Faithful had another tremendous all-round performance for the Sea Eagles putting up 24 points and five assists including going 4/8 from beyond the arc.
Kyle Painter added 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, Steven White 14 points, five assists and four rebounds, Will McFee 13 points and four boards, and Daniel Pitcher eight points, five assists and four rebounds.
Lochlan Cummings delivered 23 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals for Albury-Wodonga with his former Perry Lakes Hawks teammate out west Hamish Warden adding 22 points and eight boards with the pair combining for 8/17 shooting from downtown.
Kieran Hayward added 18 points and three assists for the Bandits.
NEWCASTLE FALCONS 54 lost to HILLS HORNETS 55
It was a low-scoring affair but it didn’t make for any less of a dramatic finish between the Newcastle Falcons and Hills Hornets on Saturday night at Newcastle Basketball Stadium.
The two teams combined for just the 19 points in the opening quarter with Newcastle leading 10-9 by quarter-time but both picked up the scoring pace in the second term.
Both teams put up 21 points in the second period which meant the Falcons were leading narrowly still at 31-30 by the half-time break.
It was the Hornets' turn to grab the momentum during the third quarter when they scored 13 straight points to open up a double-figure advantage, and still to be on top 48-39 by three quarter-time.
Newcastle got back into it with an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter but they couldn’t find a way to get in front despite drawing back level. The Hornets ended up winning 55-54 on the back of a lone free-throw from Paul Brotherson.
Newcastle collected 52 rebounds to 44 during the night while the Hornets shot 7/37 from three-point range compared with 2/18 while the Falcons attempted 25 free-throws to 16, but made just 12 at 48 per cent.
Not only did Paul Brotherson hit the game winning free-throw, but he delivered 22 points and five rebounds for the Hornets.
Patrick Tyrrell added eight points, four rebounds and three blocks, Liam Moss seven points and nine boards, and David Hayman seven points.
Myles Cherry top-scored for Newcastle with 16 points and 13 rebounds with Tom Dawson contributing nine points and three boards, and Ryan Beisty eight points, 14 rebounds and three steals.
SUTHERLAND SHARKS 76 defeated CENTRAL COAST CRUSADERS 61
The Sutherland Sharks pulled away late from the Central Coast Crusaders for an eventual 15-point home victory on Saturday night.
The Sharks played host to the Crusaders at Sutherland Basketball Stadium in Round 13 of the NBL1 East with Central Coast ending up leading 17-14 by the end of the first quarter.
Sutherland turned things around in the second term outscoring the Crusaders 19 points to 12 which saw the Sharks take a 33-29 lead into the major break.
The Sharks' lead did grow to 11 points in the third quarter after they went on a 9-0 scoring streak before they continued on their way with another eight straight points in the fourth period.
That saw Sutherland end up leading by as much as 18 points before ending up winning 76-61.
There were plenty of rebounds to go around with the Sharks shooting 37.7 per cent and the Crusaders just 22.6 with Sutherland hitting 5/23 from downtown and Central Coast 1/17.
The Crusaders gathered 55 rebounds to 50 from the Sharks while Central Coast did cough up 18 turnovers and Sutherland ended up having 15 more field goals for the game.
Lochlan Hutchison delivered 25 points, four rebounds and four assists while hitting 4/9 from downtown for the Sharks. The rest of his team went 1/14.
Dominic Gilbert added 19 points and 21 rebounds with Adrian Cabrera contributing 11 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Geoff Gerlach eight points, five steals and four boards.
Jacob Cracknell added 17 points and seven rebounds for Central Coast, James Trustum 15 points and 10 boards, Callum Jenkins nine points and 11 rebounds, and Oliver Robilliard eight points and five boards.
