NBL1 East Recap: Round 13 - Sunday July 10

Some action-packed basketball was in store for this Sunday of NBL1 East, including some absolutely nuclear individual performances on both winning and losing teams.

WOMEN 

Norths Bears (78) def by Albury Wodonga Bandits (87)

Norths put up a strong fight in this game, but they were undone by Albury Wodonga's Twin Towers, who combined for 55 points. 

Lauren Jackson led with 28 points, and Unique Thompson was right behind her with 27, as well as grabbing 13 rebounds. 

Riley Evans and Carla Pitman had twin 18-point performances for Norths, but they weren't enough to win the game. 

NORTHS 78 (Evans and Pitman 18, Bygate 14) 

ALBURY WODONGA 87 (Jackson 28, Thompson 27, McCowan 11)

 

Inner West Bulls (54) def by Canberra Nationals (101) 

Canberra completely obliterated Inner West in this game, blasting the Bulls by 47 points.

Lashayla Wright Ponder was the only Bull in double figures, scoring 24 points as she struggled to keep her team resembling competitive. 

For Canberra, Abby Solway led with 30 points, while three other starters hit double digits.

MEN

Albury Wodonga Bandits (80) def by Norths Bears (97) 

Two 30-point performances were at the heart of Norths’ 17-point victory, despite some solid play from the Bandits. 

Brennan Rymer and Patrick Sanders-McClain scored 30 and 32 points, respectively, carrying the offensive load for the Bears. 

Lochlan Cummings was the only double-digit scorer for Albury Wodonga, 25 points including shooting 5-13 from three, but he alone could not secure the win.

NORTHS 97 (Sanders-McClain 32, Rymer 30, Golding 12) 

 

Inner West Bulls (85) def by Canberra Gunners 106)

If not for a first-quarter blowout, outscored 33-13, this would have been an incredibly close game, with each of the three remaining quarters settled by two or less points. 

Chier Maker led the Bulls with 21 points, and was joined in the twenties by Alexander Higgins-Titsha. 

For Canberra, it was William Mayfield who top-scored with 25, while James Toohey also contributed 22. 

INNER WEST 85 (Maker 21, Higgins-Titsha 20, Adup 14) 

CANBERRA 106 (Mayfield 25, Toohey 22, Morison 17)

 

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (87) def by Bankstown Bruins (94)

The Sea Eagles stuck around in this one, but the Bruins were able to secure the win, taking down Manly by seven points. 

Indiana Faithfull and William McFee scored 19 points apiece for the Sea Eagles, one in the starting unit and one off the bench. 

But it was Bankstown's Lachlan Anderson who was the highlight of the game, 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the win. 

MANLY WARRINGAH 87 (Faithfull and McFee 19, Painter 17) 

BANKSTOWN 94 (Anderson 23, Elkaz and Lopez 13)
