There were four Round 10 NBL1 North matches on Friday night with wins for the Townsville Heat, Cairns Marlins, Northside Wizards and Rockhampton Rockets.
The Friday night action got underway with a big win on the road for the Townsville Heat who started their triple-header this weekend beating the Southern Districts Spartans 110-85.
Richard Peachey put up 32 points for Townsville and Ethan Betts 21 while Jalen Candy scored 21 points for the Spartans.
The Rockhampton Rockets were also impressive away from home beating the South West Metro Pirates 102-70.
Kai Woodfall top-scored for the Rockets with 26 points while Matthew McCarthy produced 22 points and 20 rebounds. Brendan Teys finished with 20 points for the Pirates.
The Cairns Marlins had to fight back from behind to end up winning on the road 93-87 against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.
Kody Stattmann was outstanding for the Marlins with 28 points and 10 rebounds with Jamaal Robateau top-scoring for Sunshine Coast with 28 points and 11 boards.
The Northside Wizards overran the Red City Roar to end up with the 69-66 victory.
Lual Diing came up huge in the narrow win for the Wizards with 17 points and 16 rebounds with Spencer Parker scoring 17 points to go with 13 boards for the Roar.
Round 10 in the NBL1 North Men's competition continues on Saturday night with the Brisbane Capitals playing the Townsville Heat while the Gold Coast Rollers take on the Southern Districts Spartans and USC Rip City face the Cairns Marlins.
Logan Thunder is also at home to the Sunshine Coast Phoenix while the Darwin Salties host the Rockhampton Rockets and the North Coast Seahawks face the Red City Roar.
The round action then wraps up on Sunday with the Ipswich Force hosting the Logan Thunder while the Northside Wizards play host to the Townsville Heat.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS SPARTANS 85 lost to TOWNSVILLE HEAT 110
The Townsville Heat produced quite the emphatic performance to start their triple-header weekend in style with a 25-point win over the Southern Districts Spartans.
Townsville is playing three games on the road in Round 10 of the NBL1 North season and it started in perfect fashion on Friday night at Rowland Cowan Stadium.
After going down five points early, the Flames soon took over the contest in imposing fashion to score 13 straight points and lead by as much as 15, and to still be in control 36-26 by the end of one.
The Townsville advantage grew to 25 during the second quarter and it got out to as much as 38 in the third term with the Flames leading 92-61 by three quarter-time.
From there the Flames went on to record the 110-85 victory to start their road trip weekend that wraps up against the Gold Coast Rollers on Saturday and Northside Wizards on Sunday.
The win improves Townsville to a 4-7 record on the season while Southern Districts remains winless after 11 attempts.
Richard Peachey produced a tremendous performance for Townsville finishing with 32 points and six rebounds on 11/15 shooting from the floor and 8/11 from the foul line.
Ethan Betts added 21 points, six assists and five rebounds, Harry Pennisi 14 points and four boards, Max Norton 13 points with three triples, and Taine Wattie 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Jalen Canty top-scored for Southern Districts with 21 points and six rebounds while Chris Cedar contributed 11 points and 10 assists, Ngor Nai 11 points and four rebounds, Will Mahoney nine points and four boards, and Kobe McDowell-White nine points and seven assists.
SOUTH WEST METRO PIRATES 70 lost to ROCKHAMPTON ROCKETS 102
The Rockhampton Rockets offered a glimpse into what they are capable of this NBL1 North season with a 32-point road win against the South West Metro Pirates on Friday night.
With the shooting prowess of Kai Woodfall, inside presence of Matthew McCarthy and plenty of talent surrounding them, it was quite the statement performance from Rockhampton at Hibiscus Sports Stadium.
It was a tight battle for the first half, though, with no more than six points ever separating the two teams and it was South West leading by that margin on a couple of separate occasions.
However, by half-time Rockhampton had worked their way on top to lead 46-44 and then the Rockets were able to dominate after half-time.
Rockhampton put together a run of scoring 17 straight points in the third quarter to open up a 27-point lead which grew to as much as 33 in the fourth before they ended up winning 102-70.
The victory improves the Rockets to a 5-7 record on the season while with the loss the Pirates slip to 4-7.
It was an incredible dominance on the glass from Rockhampton as they pulled down 57 rebounds to just 30 from South West including 18 at the offensive end to five which helped them to take 14 extra field goals.
Kai Woodfall shot 4/6 from downtown for the Rockets to finish with 26 points and six assists while Matthew McCarthy was outstanding at both ends as a big man presence with 22 points, 20 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks on 10/19 shooting.
Kendall Stephens added 18 points and seven rebounds for Rockhampton, Kon Anguik 15 points and seven boards, and Damian Prgomet 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Brendan Teys again battled valiantly for the Pirates with 20 points with Taylor Young adding 15 points and four assists, and Zac Carter 13 points and seven rebounds.
RED CITY ROAR 66 lost to NORTHSIDE WIZARDS 69
The Northside Wizards delivered a flying finish to overrun the Red City Roar and win by three points on the road on Friday night.
Red City hosted the Wizards at Paul Bancroft Centre with the visitors leading narrowly by four points at quarter-time.
The Wizards remained on top 32-29 by half-time before the Roar worked their way on top in the third quarter going on a 14-0 run to lead by as much as 12.
Red City still remained on track for much of the fourth quarter including going back up six when Jayden Hodgson knocked down a three-pointer.
When Hodgson hit another basket and Kane Bishop also scored, the Roar were up eight with four minutes to play but the Wizards weren’t going to lie down and Cameron Thew hit them the next four points.
In the end, a strong move to the basket and finish converted into a three-point play from Lual Diing put the Wizards in front before a CJ Massingale steal and breakaway finish ended up sealing the 69-66 despite a couple of nervous moments late still.
Brisbane Bullets development player Lual Diing finished with 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots for the Wizards while Cameron Thew added 15 points, seven boards and three blocks.
CJ Massingale added 14 points and 10 rebounds, Javaan Mumtaz 10 points and three boards, and DeShawn Ross-Paiwan eight points.
Spencer Parker ended up top-scoring with 17 points and 13 rebounds for Red City with Mitch Poulain adding 14 points and 10 boards, Nelson Larkins 12 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, and Jayden Hodgson nine points.
SUNSHINE COAST PHOENIX 87 lost to CAIRNS MARLINS 93
The Cairns Marlins came from behind to beat the Sunshine Coast Phoenix by six points on the road on Friday night.
The Phoenix hosted the Marlins at Maroochydore Stadium and it was the home team who had the better of proceedings early on leading by as much as eight points in the first term, and to still be on top 20-17 by quarter-time.
Both teams turned on some scintillating basketball in the second quarter combining for 64 points and in the end the Phoenix outscored the Marlins 35 to 29 to see them remain on top leading 55-46 by half-time having led at one stage by 12.
Cairns fired back during the third quarter to close the deficit to a point by three quarter-time before going on with the job in the fourth to end up leading by as much as 13.
The Marlins then had to withstand a late fightback from the Phoenix to end up winning 93-87 and improve to a 6-5 record on the season while the Phoenix are now 7-5.
Brisbane Bullets signing Kody Stattmann was outstanding for Cairns with 28 points and 10 rebounds as he gears up for his first NBL season while Mirko Djeric finished with 18 points while nailing 6/13 from three-point territory.
Deba George added 17 points and four rebounds for the Marlins, Ben Ayre 13 points and four assists, and Aron Farmer 10 points and eight rebounds.
Jamaal Robateau ended up top-scoring for Sunshine Coast with 28 points and 11 rebounds with Oscar Cluff contributing 17 points, 16 boards and three blocked shots.
Jonathan Janssen added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Mason Bragg 12 points, four boards and four assists, and Justin Aver 10 points and two steals.
