The Rollers flexed their depth with seven scorers in double digits as Gold Coast defeated Cairns 97-68 at Carrara Stadium on Friday night.

The Rollers flexed their depth with seven scorers in double digits as Gold Coast defeated Cairns 97-68 at Carrara Stadium on Friday night.

Gold Coast forward Callum Dalton tallied a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the home side’s second straight win to start the NBL1 North season.

The Rollers offence also got buckets from forward Tidjane Diop (14 points), guard Cameron Goldfinch (14), guard Jaryd Eustace (13), guard Preston Le Gassick (13), forward Tom Howard (12), and guard Lloyd McVeigh (10).

Cairns guard James Mitchell also tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Alex Loughton scored a game high 16 points.

The Rollers hit 53.4% from the field including 12 of 28 three-pointers (42.9%). It was Gold Coast’s superior scoring effectiveness that proved the difference in the game.

Mackay Meteors 95 def Rockhampton Rockets 81

Mackay’s backcourt of Christopher Cedar and Jerron Jamerson have led the Meteors to a 95-81 victory over Rockhampton Rockets at Mackay Basketball Stadium on Friday night.

Cedar’s 24 points all came from behind the arc with 8 of 14 three-pointers made while Jamerson hit 7 of 7 free throws on his way to 21 points.

Mackay forwards Emmanuel Malou (13 points, 9 rebounds), Matthew Adekponya (12 points, 7 rebounds), and Villami Foketi (12 points, 6 rebounds) provided the inside presence for the Meteors.

Rockets guard Kon Anguik scored a game-high 26 points, hitting 5 of 10 three-pointers. His guard partner Hayden Richardson added 17 points with 5 of 9 three-point attempts made.

The Meteors outrebounded the Rockets 51-39 including 16-10 on the offensive end.
