Northside Wizards 99 def Rockhampton Rockets 94

Northside Wizards held off a spirited fightback from Rockhampton Rockets with a 99-94 victory at South Pine Sports Complex.

Despite a 10-point lead heading into the final quarter, the Wizards found themselves down one (83-84) at the 4.18 mark.

Northside’s Logan Kyle scored a team-high 23 points despite going scoreless in the fourth quarter.

The Wizards guard stuffed the stat sheet with nine rebounds, seven rebounds and two blocks. His backcourt partner Jesse Ghee added nine points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.

But it was Aidan Krause (21 points), Atem Atem (20 points), Cameron Thew (14 points), and Zach Williams-Hook (11 points) that combined for the last 16 points that sealed the win.

Rockhampton’s Josh Wilcher scored a game-high 29 points while Najeal Young (22 points and 13 rebounds) and Jared Blanchard (19 points, 15 rebounds) contributed double doubles.
