Southern Districts Spartans 117 def Rockhampton Cyclones 43
The undefeated Southern Districts Spartans showcased their depth with a 117-43 victory over Rockhampton Cyclones at Rowland Cowan Stadium on Sunday.
Spartans forward Nadeen Payne (pictured) scored a game-high 23 points with 9 of 11 field goals made, including 2 of 2 from deep.
Southern Districts guard Maddison Rocci tallied 22 points and five assists at a rapid pace. The Canberra Capitals star hit 7 of 7 field goals including 5 of 5 from deep in just 15 minutes of work.
All 12 Spartans registered on the box score with points and all but one tallied at least one assist.
Rockhampton’s Tori Rouse and Brandi Leal scored a team-high nine points each.
USC Rip City 60 def by Mackay Meteorettes 94
Mackay Meteorettes won their seventh straight NBL1 North game with a 94-60 victory over USC Rip City at USC Sport Stadium on Sunday.
Mackay centre Cayla George scored a team-high 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Meteorettes to back-to-back wins on their Sunshine Coast road trip.
The Meteorettes, up seven at half time, used a 15-3 run after the main break to build a healthy lead and secure their top three spot on the ladder.
Mackay’s offence was balanced with several options including Jacqui Zelenka (18 points), Chelsea Brook (15 points), Courtney Virgo (12 points), and Heidi Freeburn (10 points). Virgo’s baskets coming from 4 of 6 shooting from the perimeter.
Rip City forward Alex Delaney scored a game-high 24 points with 5 of 10 three-pointers made, while Carlie Smith battled hard for her 14 points and 14 rebounds.
