Brisbane Capitals 60 def by Mackay Meteors 92
The second-placed Mackay Meteors flexed their depth in a 92-60 victory over Brisbane Capitals at Auchenflower Stadium on Friday night.
The Meteors jumped out to a 10-0 lead and didn’t look back in the wire-to-wire road win.
Meteors guard Christopher Cedar scored a game-high 23 points including 5 of 9 shots made from deep. His backcourt partner Jerron Jamerson added 12 points.
The Mackay frontcourt almost completed three double doubles with Emmanuel Malou (19 points, 12 rebounds), Harrison Froling (15 points, 17 rebounds) and Viliami Foketi (10 points, nine rebounds).
Brisbane’s Geordan Papacostas scored a team high 13 points for the home side including 3 of 5 shots made from beyond the arc. It was an otherwise off night for the Capitals shooters, hitting below 30% from the field, beyond the arc and the charity stripe.
The Meteors play their second game of a three-leg Brisbane road trip Saturday at the undefeated Southern Districts Spartans, followed by Northside Wizards on Sunday.
