Gold Coast Rollers 97 def South West Metro Pirates 91

Gold Coast Rollers held off South West Metro Pirates 97-91 at Carrara Stadium on Saturday night.

The Rollers led 55-33 at the main break and but a late push from the Pirates saw them pull within a possession (94-91) after a Joel Matysek three-pointer with 11 seconds left.

Rollers guard Jason Cadee (23 points) scored the last three points of the game at the charity stripe to seal the win.

Gold Coast forward Callum Dalton scored an equal game-high 25 points, including 10 of 14 field goals, and 15 rebounds.

Brendan Teys led the Pirates offence with 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. South West guard Kai Woodfall also scored 25 points, including 4 of 7 three-pointers made.

Red City Roar 106 def USC Rip City 88

Red City Roar picked up their second win of the NBL1 North season with a 106-88 win over USC Rip City at The Paul Bancroft Centre on Saturday night.

Red City combo guard William McDowell-White, in his second game for the Roar, scored a game-high 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

The Roar also got strong contributions from Kian Dennis (20 points), Kobe McDowell-White (20 points), Darryl McDowell-White (13 points) and Brent Wallace (10 points).

Rip City forward Eric McAlister top scored for the visitors with 23 points and nine rebounds. He was joined by Tanner Krebs (19 points), Isaih Tueta (16 points) and Kyle Zunic (16 points) in double figures.

The game was in the balance (75-75) at 9.19 in the fourth quarter. The Roar, who made six more three-pointers (16-10) than Rip City in the game, went on a 21-5 run midway through the final quarter to seal the win.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix 74 def Logan Thunder 67

Sunshine Coast Phoenix handed Logan Thunder their first loss of the season with a 74-67 win at Maroochydore Stadium on Saturday night.

Sunshine Coast led 57-41 heading into the final quarter but the league-leading Thunder hit back to pull within one possession (61-59) at the 4.21 mark.

Phoenix guard Darnell Robateau scored an equal game-high 17 points, 10 rebounds including six points down the stretch to seal the win.

He was backed up by Zane Meehl (14 points), Nelson Kahler (13 points, 18 rebounds), and Jamaal Robateau (12 points).

Kahler’s eight offensive rebounds helped Phoenix to a 19-6 advantage advantage on the offensive glass.

Jeremy Kendle (17 points) and Mitch Young (13 points) top scored for Logan.

Southern Districts Spartans 80 def by Mackay Meteors 99

Mackay Meteors held their second-place position with a 99-80 win over Southern District Spartans at Rowland Cowan Stadium on Saturday night.

Meteors guard Jerron Jamerson scored a game-high 21 points and his backcourt partner Christopher Cedar added 19 points.

Mackay centre Harrison Froling registered a double double with 17 points and 18 rebounds, while forward Viliami Foketi scored 17 points.

Spartans forward Andre Ugrinic was the top contributor for Southern Distrcits with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Townsville Heat 82 def Cairns Marlins 79

Townsville’s Sam Froling registered a monster double double to lead the Heat to an 82-79 victory over Cairns Marlins at Townsville StarFM Stadium on Saturday night.

In his NBL1 North debut, the Heat centre registered 36 points and 24 rebounds.

Froling made 15 of 25 field goals despite no three-pointers from five attempts. He also picked up four blocks and four assists.

Townsville guard Peter Crawford (14 points) and forward Keegan Tudehope (10 points) also scored in double figures.

Majok Deng (27 points), Mirko Djeric (22 points) and Anthony Fisher (17 points) were the top scorers for the visitors.
