NBL1 South Recap: Round 10 - Sunday July 3

Only two NBL1 South games this Sunday, featuring a double-header between the Melbourne Tigers and the Diamond Valley Eagles.

WOMEN

Diamond Valley Eagles (50) def by Melbourne Tigers (60)

Despite a solid first half from Diamond Valley, including holding Melbourne to only six second-quarter points, the Eagles couldn’t get the job done today, with the Tigers claiming a 10-point win. 

Tess Heal put the team on her back in this one, scoring 30 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. 

Diamond Valley’s dynamic duo of Kate Oliver and Hope Terdich had 14 points apiece, but the Eagles couldn’t maintain their momentum.

MEN

Melbourne Tigers (83) def by Diamond Valley Eagles (84) 

A phenomenal comeback from Diamond Valley secured the Eagles a one-point win, as they outscored Melbourne 20-7 in the fourth. 

Three of Diamond Valley’s starters scored at least 14 points in this impressive win, led by Joel Capetola with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Michael Wearne led all scorers with 18 for Melbourne, but the Tigers truly let one slip here.
