Eltham’s Josh Sykes has been suspended for 1 game for inappropriate social media posts, that were aimed toward the Officials of a match that took place at Kilsyth on the 10th May 2025.

Eltham’s Josh Sykes has been suspended for 1 game for inappropriate social media posts, that were aimed toward the Officials of a match that took place at Kilsyth on the 10th May 2025.
The social media posts attributed to Josh Sykes’ account, were raised to League Management who moved to offer a sanction to Sykes via the Eltham association. The post was found to be in breach of Basketball Victoria’s Social Media policy. It was determined by the NBL1 South League Management that the action was in breach of this policy and amounts to conduct detrimental or prejudicial to the League.

Inappropriate conduct toward Technical Officials - 1 Game
Statement from NBL1 South League Manager Alison Cody:
Inappropriate social media posts toward Technical Officials or any participant via media platforms is not conduct we wish to condone within NBL1 South, nor other Basketball Victoria leagues. Whilst we understand the passion and emotion that basketball generates for participants, there are channels provided of which concern or queries can be raised.
Josh Sykes accepted the offer provided by Basketball Victoria and will serve his suspension on Friday 16th May 2025 when Eltham play against Hobart.
No further comment will be made at this time.
