NBL1 West MVP re-signs with National Champions

The NBL1 West MVP and champion Devondrick Walker has re-signed with the Rockingham Flames for the 2023 NBL1 season.

The NBL1 West MVP and champion Devondrick Walker has re-signed with the Rockingham Flames for the 2023 NBL1 season.

After leading his Flames to the NBL1 West Grand Final, where he was awarded Finals MVP against the Geraldton Buccaneers, Walker got his next chance in the NBL with the Brisbane Bullets.

Missing the Coles Express NBL1 National Finals due to NBL commitments, where his team went on to win the National Championship without him, Walker is back for the 2023 season alongside the core from last season.

Averaging 27 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists, Walker’s production earnt him Brisbane’s third import slot. In NBL23 Walker was hampered by injuries, in the limited season he averaged nine points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Bullets.

Walker’s main reason for re-signing was to stay with his wife and daughter, in their “second home” of Rockingham according to Sound Telegraph.

But his second goal is to go back-to-back for the 2023 NBL1 season.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge that comes with defending a championship,” Walker told Tyra Peters.

“It was all new the first time, so this time it will be different. We will get the best of every team this year.”

Walker joins Coles Express Championship Game MVP Ryan Godfrey, Marshall Nelson, Tom Jervis and more for the Flames in the 2023 season.
