NBL1xWNBL Wrap: Round 3

Round 3 of the WNBL is complete and there is plenty of hot shooting performances from NBL1 stars we need to break down.

Round 3 of the WNBL is complete and there are plenty of performances from NBL1 stars we need to break down.

Robbi Ryan clutches the win

Starting with Joondalup Wolves superstar Robbi Ryan, who clutched the win for the Perth Lynx against the Sydney Flames on Wednesday night. With multiple lay-ups late in the fourth, she scored nine of her 13 points in the final term including dishing out all four of her assists and two steals.

She finished with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the eight-point win, helping the Lynx to balance their record to 2-2 and fifth on the WNBL ladder.

On the WNBL Show, Megan Hustwaite said Robbi Ryan was the player who caught her eye this round.

"I was so happy to see her get in double figures and play a really important role for Perth," she said.

"She's done really well coming through NBL1 ... thumbs up for Robbi Ryan, I'm sure we'll see plenty more double-figure games from you Robbi."

Wolves fans will be keen to see if she returns as Teige Morrell and now Townsville Fire player Nes’aya Parker-Williams have both re-signed for the NBL1 2023 season.

Lauren Mansfield continues hot shooting

Lauren Mansfield makes our NBL1xWNBL Wrap for the second week in a row after a major shooting performance against her former WNBL side on Saturday night. Back in her home state, she had a game-high 23 points shooting 7/7 from the arc.

The Gold Coast Roller had an outstanding performance as the Lightning are quietly one of the deepest teams in the league. NBL1 South champion Marena Whittle has been a consistent scorer and rebounder while Isobel Borlase has been the rising star of the season so far.

Dolphins duo light up UC Capitals

The Cairns Dolphins duo of Cayla George and Penina Davidson had an outrageous game against the undermanned UC Capitals.

The Boomers beat the Caps by 35 points, Davidson made all nine of her field goal attempts and missed one of two free throws to finish with an almost perfect game of 19 points, five rebounds and two steals. While NBL1 North All Star Five member Cayla George dropped 14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals.

The reigning champs still look like one of the clear title contenders, especially with all their NBL1 talent.
