The Pioneers Basketball Club have announced the resigning of club stalwarts Tom Daly and Erik Burdon as well as the return of talented local guard Kane de Wit ahead of the club's first NBL1 South season.

Pioneers captain Daly enters his eighth season with the club whilst crowd favourite and life member of the Pioneers Basketball Club Burdon enters his 11th season with club.

Local guard de Wit returns to the Pioneers after two seasons with the Forestville Eagles competing in the Adelaide Premier League.

Pioneers Basketball Club President Tom Kosch is thrilled to secure the signature of two stalwarts of the club as well as having de Wit return.

"The continued commitment of Tom and Erik and now the return of Kane is huge for the future of our basketball club. Their commitment over the journey has been outstanding," Kosch said.

"All three players have played significant roles in the clubs previous success in the SEABL competition and we look forward to Tom, Erik and Kane bringing that experience to NBL1."

The return of basketball to the Ice House is highly anticipated for the Pioneers Basketball Club and the wider Mount Gambier community.

After earning the right to enter NBL1 South in late 2019 the NBL1 South was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID in March 2020.

The NBL1 season is scheduled to start April 17th against the Bendigo Braves at the Ice House.
