The Coles Express NBL1 and Basketball Queensland are pleased to announce the North Gold Coast Seahawks will join NBL1 North in 2022.

The Seahawks will become the 15th association to enter the NBL1 North conference and are looking to build on their success in the 2021 Queensland State League.

Basketball Queensland COO Joshua Pascoe said: “We’re pleased to welcome North Gold Coast into the NBL1 North competition next year and look forward to watching them compete against the best teams in the state.

“Over the past two years, the Seahawks have brought a high level of professionalism to the QSL in preparation for joining NBL1 North and have built a culture within their association to help them become successful both on and off the court.

“Their success in the 2021 QSL season coupled with the extensive work and development they have undertaken behind the scenes only strengthened their application to step up to NBL1.”

Seahawks General Manager Dwyane Vale is excited about their teams entering the competition next year and confident they have the building block in place to be competitive.

“It is incredibly exciting, and it has been a goal of mine and the board for us to complete our Seahawks pathway,” Vale said.

“We know we have a bit of work to do when it comes to recruitment and we want to add around our existing key players, we just don’t want to recruit over.

“We know that Seahawks players are the pillars of our program, and these are the guys and girls that we want to build a program around.”
