Ringwood Hawks guard/forward Toni Farnworth has yet to make a decision regarding her WNBL plans for next season but for the Hawks, she is locked and loaded for the 2021 NBL1 South season.
With her eyes set firmly on taking the Hawks a step further than the semi-finals finish in 2019, Farnworth is confident in the team’s ability to do just that.
"We’ve done a good job of recruiting a talented squad, we are focused on coming together and playing solid team defence and offence," she said.
"Initially the aim will be to get to the finals, hopefully competing for a top-four spot.
"Once we get there, we can re-assess things and set an even greater goal."
Farnworth, who is a New Zealand National Team member, also has some Tall Ferns commitments to look forward to after a disrupted past 12 months which saw all basketball in Victoria cancelled.
"We had a camp for Australian-based players in mid-March with another camp also held in New Zealand for the New Zealand-based players," she said.
"All going well, we will have Asia Cup games in September which are qualifiers for the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney."
Back in 2019, Farnworth was spectacular for the Hawks, scoring at will while also having a great impact at the defensive end of the floor.
According to Hawks Assistant Coach Peter Hynson, Farnworth will again be looked upon to produce that same effort and dominance.
"She can score and defend but now that she has been around the club for nearly three years, she really has taken on the leadership role which is great for this team which is still coming together."
Farnworth joins returning team captain Danni Bone, Jacqui Trotto, Hope Terdich, Kate Spillane, Marena Whittle and Hajnal Nagy as the announced signings for the upcoming 2021 NBL1 South season, with more Ringwood announcements expected to be made shortly.
