Lavey brings to the club a wealth of experience including 12 years in the WNBL (200+ games) and Opals representation at the Olympics, FIBA World Cups and Commonwealth Games.
In the 2020 WNBL season for the Bendigo Spirit, Lavey averaged 15.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
A dual-sport athlete, Lavey will balance her commitments with the Richmond Tigers in her debut AFLW season and the NBL1 South season.
Frankston are very supportive of this and will work closely with Lavey to ensure she can achieve her goals on the court and on the field.
Coach Belinda Snell spoke about Lavey joining the Blues
“We’re really excited to have Tessa join our side,” Snell said.
“Her leadership will be invaluable, not to mention the explosiveness and excitement she brings to the court.”
Lavey couldn’t hide her excitement about joining Frankston.
“I’m excited to be working with the Frankston Blues this NBL1 season,” she said.
“I’ve heard a lot of great things about the club and I’m super pumped to be working with Belinda Snell.
“I appreciate the support from the club in my AFLW aspirations and being a dual-sport athlete.
“The ultimate goal is Tokyo and I’m keen to work with the young and exciting playing group under the guidance of Snelly.
“Basketball is back in Victoria and I cannot wait to get out on the court and play.”
