The Ringwood Hawks have added another key piece to their roster with the re-signing of popular guard/forward Jacqui Trotto for the 2021 NBL1 South season.
Early in 2020, Trotto suffered a serious knee injury and was set to miss the season but then COVID-19 hit, and ironically, everyone ended up missing a season.
After the 12 months of rehab and after just getting the green light to "go hard", the 2021 NBL1 South season cannot come quick enough for the Hawks versatile leader.
"I’m really looking forward to being back out on the floor and growing my game," Trotto said.
"I’ve got an awesome bunch of girls around me who are itching for the season to start, I’m truly excited to see where we can take this."
With her knee feeling strong and a few practice games under her belt, Trotto talked about her expectations for the team this year.
If the Hawks can stay healthy, she sees them as being as capable as any team when the whips are cracking in September.
"Ringwood has always been underrated but as usual, I think we’ve put together a solid squad," Trotto said
"This squad has the potential to compete for the ultimate prize."
Ringwood Hawks coach Tim Mottin is excited about what Trotto will bring to the team for the upcoming season.
The reigning Coach of the Year clearly appreciates what Trotto means to his team and her importance to any success they are trying to have.
"She will do whatever the team needs to win," Mottin said.
"She will defend, she will create or she will can score when the team needs it.
"Jacqui is a quality person and always puts the team first which inspires others too."
Trotto joins returning team captain Danni Bone, Hope Terdich, Kate Spillane, Marena Whittle and Hajnal Nagy as the announced signings for the upcoming 2021 NBL1 South season with more announcements expected to be made shortly.
