Taylor Mole put up 49 points and 19 rebounds as the Mackay Meteorettes beat the Ipswich Force in Friday night NBL1 North while it was a road double for the Darwin Salties against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

Taylor Mole put up 49 points and 19 rebounds as the Mackay Meteorettes beat the Ipswich Force in Friday night NBL1 North while it was a road double for the Darwin Salties against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

The three Friday night's women's matches in the NBL1 North saw the Gold Coast Rollers beat the Logan Thunder 100-95, the Mackay Meteorettes defeat the Ipswich Force 101-84, and the Darwin Salties down the Sunshine Coast Phoenix 90-68.

Then in the men's match ups, Logan beat Gold Coast 92-79, Mackay downed Ipswich 110-89, and Darwin defeated Sunshine Coast 105-92.

Gold Coast Rollers (100) defeated Logan Thunder (95)

The Gold Coast Rollers and Logan Thunder played out a cracking overtime thriller at Carrara Stadium with the home team prevailing 100-95 thanks to 13 points to eight in the extra period.

Gold Coast came into the contest on its home floor with a 2-6 record but with one of those wins coming last week against Ipswich by 61 points while Logan arrived having built some form and momentum with four wins in the previous five games.

It promised to be a fascinating contest and it certainly delivered with Gold Coast out to an eight-point lead early but eight straight points for Logan saw the visitors lead 21-19 by quarter-time.

The Thunder saw that lead grow to 45-41 by half-time but Gold Coast had a huge third quarter with 25 points to 15. The lead for the Rollers was out to 10 points in the final term too, but the Thunder hit back to set up a big finish.

Logan had turned the tide all the way holding a five-point lead with just under 1:30 remaining after a tough turnaround jumper to Cate Reese.

The Rollers were back within three thanks to a tough left handed contested layup from Taylor Lee. On Gold Coast's next possession, it was Kate Deeble's turn for a tough finish attacking the rim and she converted the three-point play to tie scores up with 45 seconds to play.

That's where scores would stay as time expired and in overtime, it was Gold Coast who got the better of proceedings with 13 points to the eight from Logan to secure the five-point victory.

The Rollers improve to a 3-6 record on the season with consecutive wins with Myah Selland finishing with 26 points, six assists and four rebounds on 10/15 shooting from the field.

Taylor Lee added 26 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds on 9/12 shooting which included 3/3 from three-point range.

Kate Deeble also had 19 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals, and Lisa Koop 14 points, nine boards and two assists.

Logan is 4-6 following the defeat with Cate Reese ending the evening with 23 points on 9/11 shooting from the floor and 5/6 at the foul line.

Jade Kirisome also delivered 21 points with 5/10 three-point shooting while Mikhaela Cann contributed 15 points, 13 assists and five rebounds, and Sharni Reisinger 11 points and four boards.

Chevannah Paalvast also had 11 points and 10 assists, and Prasayus Notoa 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists.

Gold Coast backs up on the road to the North Gold Coast Seahawks on Saturday with Logan hosting the Mackay Meteorettes on Sunday afternoon.

An incredible 49-point performance from Taylor Mole to go with 19 rebounds ensured a 101-84 road win for the Mackay Meteorettes.

It's a daunting three-game road triple-header the Meteorettes are facing this weekend, but they started in the perfect way on Friday night up against the struggling Ipswich at JBS Stadium.

Ipswich lost to the Gold Coast Rollers by 61 points last week but back on their home floor they were hoping for a vastly improved performance against a Mackay team who did arrive on a two-game winning run.

With Taylor Mole on fire, Mackay made a remarkable start with 39 points to 21 in the opening quarter.

The lead for the Meteorettes grew to 20 points in the second term as well before the visitors went into half-time leading 53-41.

Mackay hung onto that advantage throughout the second half too on the way to the eventual 17-point victory to improve to 4-5 on the season with three wins in-a-row.

It was a stunning performance from Taylor Mole in the win for the Meteorettes finishing with 49 points, 19 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

She shot 15/30 from the field, 8/15 from three-point territory and 11/11 at the free-throw line.

Samantha Haiby added 17 points, nine assists, four rebounds and four steals, Nikita Van Wyk 14 points and 12 boards, and Chelsea Brook 11 points and eight rebounds.

Ipswich is now 1-10 with three straight losses since that lone win of the season against the South West Metro Pirates.

Amanda Cahill finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and two blocks with Kahlaijah Dean contributing 22 points, 12 boards and seven assists, Kate Head 10 points and six rebounds, and Claire Fraser 10 points and four boards.

Ipswich now doesn’t play again until hosting the Northside Wizards on Friday June 21 with Mackay having started its road triple with games to come on Saturday against South West Metro and Sunday against Logan.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix (68) lost to Darwin Salties (90)

The Darwin Salties started their road double with the 90-68 win against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix with Courtney Woods outstanding.

The Salties have two games on the road this weekend as they arrived on Friday at Maroochydore Stadium taking on a Phoenix team on a three-match losing streak.

It was a high-scoring opening quarter with the two teams combining for 60 points with Darwin leading 33-27 by the end of one.

Sunshine Coast were doing well to keep in touch the rest of the half too with the Salties only clinging to the 45-43 half-time advantage.

It was then all Darwin in the second half with the visitors outscoring Sunshine Coast 45 points to 25 to end up scoring the 22-point victory to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Courtney Woods was the standout again in the win for the Salties with 21 points, 12 rebounds and five assists on 6/11 shooting from the floor, 3/4 from three-point range and 6/6 at the free-throw line.

Ashley Harris added 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Abbey-Lee Wood 13 points, two boards and two assists, and Ruby Porter 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

The Phoenix slip to 1-9 on the season having now lost four in-a-row with Amy Browne top-scoring with 23 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Carlie Smith also finished with 12 points, 18 rebounds and five assists, and Haylee Andrews 12 points, five assists and three boards.

Darwin backs up to face the Northside Wizards also on the road on Saturday night with Sunshine Coast on the road to the Mackay Meteorettes on Saturday night next week.

Gold Coast Rollers (79) lost to Logan Thunder (92)

Logan Thunder kept their hot form going with the 92-79 road win over the Gold Coast Rollers with Zac Triplett leading the charge and Chris Cedar knocking down four three-pointers.

Gold Coast was back home at Carrara Stadium looking to try and break back into a playoff position and the Rollers started strongly opening up a nine-point lead in the first quarter.

Having reached the last two Grand Final series in the NBL1 North, Gold Coast were still leading 23-20 by quarter-time, but Logan had worked back into the contest and then produced 27 points to 13 in the second period.

That saw the Thunder leading 47-36 by half-time with the lead for the visitors getting out to as much as 19 points in the last quarter before they went on to win by 13.

The win improves Logan to 8-2 on the season with five straight wins with Zac Triplett starring once more with 24 points, eight rebounds and two assists, and Chris Cedar 21 points and three boards on 4/8 three-point shooting.

Callum Dalton also had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Shaun Bruce 11 points and 13 assists, and Tom Howard pulled down 10 rebounds.

Gold Coast now slips to 4-5 on the season with Preston Le Gassick putting up another 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Jackson McCabe also had 13 points, three rebounds and two steals, Elijah Kamu 11 points and six boards, Jason Cadee nine points and seven assists, and Boston Mazlin nine points, four assists and two boards.

Gold Coast backs up on the road to the North Gold Coast Seahawks on Saturday with Logan hosting the Mackay Meteors on Sunday afternoon.

It was the reigning champions up against the current NBL1 North leaders and it was the Mackay Meteors proving too strong beating the Ipswich Force 110-89.

The Meteors arrived at JBS Stadium on Friday night to begin their triple-header on the road this weekend looking to maintain their hold on top spot up against an Ipswich team having lost five straight in its championship defence.

While the Force were without DJ Mitchell, they did regain championship winning star Deng Deng to take on Mackay, but the Meteors made a big start with 33 points to 21 in the opening quarter.

It was another 34 points to 22 in the second quarter in the favour of Mackay to see the visitors go into the half-time break leading 67-43.

The lead got out to as much as 27 points in the favour of the Meteors in the second half before securing the eventual 21-point win to retain top spot with a 9-1 record.

Todd Blanchfield hit 6/12 from three-point territory on his way to 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Mackay with Isaac White adding 17 points, five boards, three steals and two assists.

Emmanel Malou also had 17 points and three rebounds on 3/6 three-point shooting with Jerron Jamerson contributing 15 points and two boards, Luca Yates 14 points and eight rebounds, and Emmett Naar 10 points and 13 assists.

Ipswich has now lost six straight to slip to 3-9 as reigning champions despite the 33 points, four assists and three rebounds from Grand Final MVP Nathan Sobey who went 16/17 at the foul line.

Deng Deng also marked his return with 17 points and six rebounds with Jason Ralph contributing nine points, five boards and five assists, and Michael Fleming nine points.

Ipswich now doesn’t play again until hosting the Northside Wizards on Friday June 21 with Mackay having started its road triple with games to come on Saturday against South West Metro and Sunday against Logan.

The Darwin Salties kept their winning run going starting their road double this weekend in style with the 105-92 victory against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.

The Salties arrived at Maroochydore Stadium for their first of two games this weekend in Queensland on a two-game winning run and looking to stay in touch with the top two teams.

Sunshine Coast was also looking to improve on their 5-4 record and to back up a 26-point win at home over the Townsville Heat.

Darwin got rolling already in the first quarter to be leading 29-17 by the end of one and then building a 25-point edge in the second term to go into half-time on top 52-39.

The Salties were able to maintain that double-figure advantage throughout the second half on the way to the eventual 13-point victory to make it three straight wins and improve to 8-2 on the season.

Verle Williams finished with 20 points and four steals for Darwin on 7/8 shooting from the field, 3/3 from three-point territory and 3/3 at the foul line in just over 18 minutes of court time.

Kouat Noi also ended up with 19 points and two rebounds, Sean Macdonald 17 points, six assists and five boards, Wani Swaka Lo Buluk 17 points, four rebounds and two steals, Chier Maker 15 points and 10 boards, and Makuach Maluach 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The loss sees Sunshine Coast slip to 5-5 on the season with Jamaal Robateau finishing with 24 points and three rebounds on 5/11 three-point shooting.

Duom Dawam also had 24 points and 10 rebounds with Kobe McDowell-White contributing 15 points, five boards, four assists and two steals, and Jeryn Lucas 14 points and five rebounds.

Darwin backs up to face the Northside Wizards also on the road on Saturday night with Sunshine Coast on the road to the Mackay Meteors on Saturday night next week.
