The NBL1 North Finals MVP took the conference by storm, returning to his Ipswich Froce after a year hiatus with the Tokyo Olympics.
In 2023 he averaged 24.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the championship team.

On the NBL’s Huddle podcast, Sobey expressed that the NBL1 season was essential in his injury recovery and allowed him to come into the season on fire.
“I definitely felt like I needed to play,” Sobey said on the Huddle.
“I couldn’t sit around for another six or seven months just waiting for my first game to come back around because I would be still using those games as a stepping stone.
“It was definitely something I needed to do.”
