Spartans sign Boomers WNBL stars

The Southern Districts Spartans have bolstered their 2021 NBL1 North women’s roster with the signings of Melbourne Boomers WNBL stars Kalani Purcell and Ash Karaitiana.

Karaitiana re-joins the Spartans after a dominant 2020 where she averaged 21.25 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.75 assists in the QSL competition. She topped it off by representing the Boomers, helping them reach the preliminary finals in the WNBL season.

Purcell is also coming off a dominant 2020 QSL season for Southern Districts, where she averaged 15.75 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.25 assists. She played just under 16 minutes per game for Melbourne in the WNBL season.

The Boomers duo joins fellow WNBL star Maddison Rocci on the Spartans’ 2021 roster.
