The Townsville Flames got into the Coles Express NBL1 National Final in historic fashion.

Townsville obliterated the previously undefeated Logan Thunder, sweeping them in the three-game series. The Flames won both games by a combined 60 points.

The team is led by Stephanie Reid - the fiery guard made her Opals debut this year and was named the Grand Final series MVP with an average of 24.5 points and 9.5 assists per game.

The team is coached by NBL1 North women’s Coach of the Year Shannon Seebohm, he has made Courtney Woods into the ultimate NBL1 Star. She has been an unsung hero, as the sharpshooter averaged 23 points per game and has been the Flames’ most consistent threat all season.

The Flames stormed their way through the NBL1 North Finals, beating the Mackay Meteorettes by 20 in the first round, the Southern District Spartans by 27 in the Semi-Finals and a 2-0 sweep of the Thunder.

They will play the Spartans again, as they were the NBL1 Wildcard Series winners, on Friday in the NBL1 North v Wildcard match-up.
