WNBL’s Woods joins Northside Wizards

The Northside Wizards have announced the signing of Courtney Woods to their NBL1 North women’s team.

The Northside Wizards have announced the signing of Courtney Woods to their NBL1 North women’s team.

After returning home from her stellar college career, Woods joined Northside’s QSL women’s team where she averaged 24.5 points and shot over 45 percent from the field.

Woods left the Wizards halfway through the season to honour her WNBL commitments with the Townsville Fire. She adjusted to the big stage well during her rookie year and finished in the top five league-wide in field-goal percentage (56.9 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (51.6 percent).

“I had the honour of coaching Courtney during her junior basketball career and it has been a pleasure to watch her grow into the player she is today,” NBL1 women’s head coach Rebecca Stephens said.

“She brings a wealth of basketball experience and knowledge on top of a desire to compete and ultimately win games for her club.

“Courtney has cemented herself as a valuable member of the Northside Wizards community and is a great role model, especially to our junior girls program.

“She provides an example of how hard work and dedication can lead to completing your degree, travelling the world and playing basketball at the highest level in the country.”
