The Frankston Blues have announced the signing of import Dillon Stith for the 2021 NBL1 South season.

Known to the Victorian basketball community, Stith joins the club with a wealth of experience including NBL experience with Melbourne United in the 2019/20 season. He also played in NBLxNBA matches against the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.

Stith also has a Big V State Championship men’s title and MVP Award to his name. At 6’7, Stith will be an exciting athlete, looking to make large contributions on both ends of the court.

Coach Andrew Harms spoke about recruiting Stith to the Blues.

“We recruit from character first and work backwards from there – from talking with Dillon and doing our research he lives and embodies the character traits we value at Frankston,” Harms said.

“Furthermore, he comes with an extensive resume of being involved in winning programs and we believe has winning in his DNA.

“From an on-court perspective, he is a five-tool player that will provide us with flexibility, as his skill set allows him to play two through five.

“His strengths fit in with our style of play and we feel he will seamlessly assimilate with the established players on our list.

“We can’t wait to get him on the court and build up his continuity with the group – we see Dillon as a long-term player at our club.”

Stith spoke about the reasons for his signing with Frankston.

“The Blues have established themselves in recent years as a club that has the professionalism, resources, and work ethic that extends from seniors to juniors and throughout the club,” Stith said.

“I’ve noticed from afar, so to see for myself during the recruiting process and have those convos with Wayne Holdsworth about achievements and future aspirations for FDBA – the decision became easy.

“With the reigning NBL1 coach of the year Harmsy and Jacko, I see the potential to build on something already special.

“Already being familiar with many of the guys on the team, knowing their ability and character, I knew it’d be an enjoyable opportunity to take the floor with them and compete for a championship.”

Stith joins Igor Hadziomerovic, Dan Trist and Lachlan Barker on the Blues’ 2021 men’s team.
