Basketball Ballarat have announced Ballarat local Taylah Wynne will join the Ballarat Rush for the 2021 NBL1 South Season.
Wynne was one of the initial players announced ahead of the 2020 season after a year away from the sport before COVID-19 ultimately put a hold to those plans. For Wynne it is all systems go with the upcoming season set to commence on April 17th when the Rush take on the Albury-Wodonga Bandits.
“I am really excited to sign with the Selkirk Ballarat Rush, after having some time off it will be great to get back onto the court again,” Wynne said.
Wynne noted coach Eric Hayes as a key factor for her return and one she saw as an opportunity to keep improving.
“I am looking forward to playing under Eric, he is a great coach with a lot of knowledge and experience that will only help me improve my game. Having known Eric since juniors, there has been so much he has already done for me and my game. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team,” Wynne said.
After opening in late 2019, the Ballarat Sports Events Centre will host the NBL1 South as the new home for the Ballarat Miners and Rush which Wynne was excited to share with the local community.
“I can’t wait to get out on the new courts at BSEC. I’m excited to see all the fans and can’t wait to play in front of friends and family,” Wynne said.
Hayes was thrilled to see Wynne return to Ballarat.
“It is great to have Taylah back in Ballarat with the Selkirk Ballarat Rush program. Taylah left home to pursue her education but remained a supporter of the program when I saw her and spoke to her at many games," Hayes said.
Hayes said that Wynne has been putting a lot of hard work in and was looking forward to seeing her on the court.
“It was great when she decided she wanted to play again and reached out. Taylah has come back to the program with improved skill and fitness which is awesome to go along with a very nice shot and more confident handling the ball as a guard.
“These things are certainly positives for us but the biggest bonus is Taylah brings some maturity and a positive attitude. Taylah is always positive about the program but she has been away and grown as a person so a great benefit for our program. I am really looking forward to watching her continue to grow and develop in 2021.”
Wynne joins Alicia Froling, Claire Blower, Claire Constable, Kristy Rinaldi, Annie Collins and Millie Cracknell as players announced on the Ballarat roster ahead of the 2021 NBL1 South Season.
