A jam-packed night of hoops was on the cards for NBL1 South, with some tight finishes and some truly mind-bending performances.

WOMEN 

Mount Gambier Pioneers (78) def by Bendigo Braves (81)

A very close game, the Braves took down the Pioneers by only three points. 

Cassidy McLean led Bendigo with 26 points, while Abigail Wehrung flirted with a triple-double - 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. 

Cassandra Brown was Mount Gambier's top scorer with 20, as the Pioneers came close but just couldn't get over the top of the Braves. 

MOUNT GAMBIER 78 (Brown 20, Young 19, Reilly 16)

BENDIGO 81 (McLean 26, Wehrung 20, McKay 17)

 

Keilor Thunder (82) def by Sandringham Sabres (92)

Ten points separated these teams come the final buzzer, as Sandringham claimed a solid win. 

Funda Nakkasoglu and Georgia Pineau had 23 points apiece, with two more Sabres starters also hitting double figures. 

The Thunder had a 23-point scorer of their own, Maddie Garrick, but Keilor lacked the scoring ability of Sandringham in this one. 

KEILOR 82 (Garrick 23, Philoxy 12, Bandilovska 11)

SANDRINGHAM 92 (Nakkasoglu and Pineau 23, Smart 16) 

 

Kilsyth Cobras (93) def by Casey Cavaliers (105) 

The Cavaliers took down the Cobras by 12 points, after some solid play by both sides. 

Casey had three players score 20 or more points, led by Rachel Bell who had 26. 

Chloe Bibby had a game-high 28 points for Kilsyth, but was lacking support, leading to the loss. 

KILSYTH 93 (Bibby 28, Booth 20, Young and Turner 14)

CASEY 105 (Bell 26, Boothe 21, Brown 20)

 

Melbourne Tigers (42) def by Knox Raiders (94)

A stunning defeat in this game, as the Raiders more than doubled their opponents score, winning by 52 points. 

Alicia Froling was magnificent, a 27-point 17-rebound double-double with two steals and two blocks for Knox. 

Melbourne's top scorers were Lily Carmody and Courtney Gaze-Persson, with 10 each, as the Tigers got blown out of the water by the Raiders. 

MELBOURNE 42 (Carmody and Gaze-Persson 10, Prince 8)

KNOX 94 (Froling 27, Wischer 20, Tessari 12)

 

Ballarat Miners (59) def by Nunawading Spectres (70)

This felt like a fairly disjointed game, the Spectres sneaking away with an 11-point win. 

Alice Kunek led Nunawading with 23 points, while Zitina Aokuso led Ballarat and the game with 25 points. 

BALLARAT 59 (Aokuso 25, Brancatisano 18, Gorman 10)

NUNAWADING 70 (Kunek 23, Brewster 12, Mihalko 11)

 

Eltham Wildcats (62) def by Diamond Valley Eagles (98)

This was a demolition job from Diamond Valley, highlighted by a dominant fourth quarter where they outscored their opponents 27-7. 

Sophie Burrows was the games best player for the Eagles, scoring 33 points including 5-8 from three. 

Korinne Campbell was Eltham's best player with 15 points and nine rebounds, as the Wildcats put up little resistance in their loss. 

ELTHAM 62 (Campbell 15, Leidel 14, Wynne and Pizzey 8)

DIAMOND VALLEY 98 (Burrows 33, Terdich and Dunne 17)

 

Launceston Tornadoes (76) def by Waverley Falcons (96)

Not much of a contest in this one, as the Falcons downed the Tornadoes by 20 points after only four Launceston players scored a single point.

Despite the loss, Keely Froling was brilliant as ever, with 38 points and 15 rebounds. 

For Waverley, four players scored at least 16 points, led by Amelia Todhunter and Sophia Locandro with 18. 

LAUNCESTON 76 (Froling 38, Payne 26, Simpson 10) 

WAVERLEY 96 (Todhunter and Locandro 18, Mokrzycki 17)

 

Frankston Blues (65) def by Ringwood Hawks (95)

A gigantic win from Ringwood in this game as they took down Frankston by 30 points. 

Despite only one bench point, the Hawks had three starters score in the twenties, led by Digna Strautmane with 29 points. 

Frankston's top scorer was Saraid Taylor with 20, as the Blues lacked the necessary firepower to compete in this one. 

FRANKSTON 65 (Taylor 20, Gaze 12, Batish 10)

RINGWOOD 95 (Strautmane 29, Hermida 26, Jenkins 20)

 

MEN

Bendigo Braves (86) def by Mount Gambier Pioneers (91)

A close game, this came down to the final few possessions as the Pioneers held on for a five-point win. 

Kuany Kuany led Bendigo and the game with 31 points, while Sidy Mohamed Djitte had a 15-point 14-rebound double-double, 

However, Mount Gambier had five players in double figures, led by Michael Harris with 23 points. 

BENDIGO 86 (Kuany 31, Rosendale 20, Djitte 15)

MOUNT GAMBIER 91 (Harris 23, Marshall 21, Brown 13)

 

Keilor Thunder (80) def by Sandringham Sabres (89)

This was Keilor's game to lose for the first three quarters, and that's exactly what they did in the fourth, outscored 37-20 as the Sabres took home a nine-point win. 

Campbell Blogg was huge for the Sabres with 27 points, while Shea Ili added 23 of his own. 

Jacob Lampkin was Keilor's top scorer with 18 points, as the Thunder let a sure win pass them by in this one.

SANDRINGHAM 89 (Blogg 27, Ili 23, Okwera 10)

 

Casey Cavaliers (70) def by Kilsyth Cobras (80)

With only 10 points separating both teams, this game was won by the play of Ben Ursich and Adrian Tomada, who had 19 points each in the Cobras' victory. 

Casey themselves had dual 17-point scorers - Matthew Donlan and William Hickey - but they did not have what it took to win this game.

KILSYTH 80 (Tomada and Ursich 19, Jeffs 11)

 

Melbourne Tigers (75) def by Knox Raiders (77)

It was closer than the women's game, but the Tigers exit Saturday with two losses to Knox, as the men also went down, this time by two points. 

Felix von Hofe led the Tigers, scoring 26 points as only one other Melbourne player joined him in double figures, Mason Gaze with 10. 

Knox had three players in double figures, led by Deng Acuoth who had 19 points. 

MELBOURNE 75 (von Hofe 26, Gaze 10, Raynor 8)

KNOX 77 (Acuoth 19, Nunn 15, Foy 13) 

 

Ballarat Miners (78) def by Nunawading Spectres (89)

This Nunawading win had all the makings of a close game, before a disastrous 17-9 fourth quarters for Ballarat. 

The star of the show was Nunawading's CJ Asuncion-Byrd, who had 37 points including 6/8 from three. 

Ballarat's top scorer was Preston Bungei, who had 23 points, four rebounds and four assists. 

BALLARAT 78 (Bungei 23, Sapwell 14, Gak 13) 

NUNAWADING 89 (Asuncion-Byrd 37, Geer and Box 11)

 

Eltham Wildcats (69) def by Diamond Valley Eagles (73) 

This was a decidedly close match, with Diamond Valley only just eking out a four-point win. 

Dejan Vasiljevic continued his brilliance for the Eagles, the game's top scorer with 25 points. 

Owen Foxwell led Eltham with 17, but the Wildcats fell just short of the mark in this one. 

ELTHAM 69 (Foxwell 17, Dance 15, Sykes 12) 

DIAMOND VALLEY 73 (Vasiljevic 25, Symons 16, Bowkett 10)

 

Waverley Falcons (63) def by NW Tasmania Thunder (69) 

This was a relatively low-scoring affair, with the Thunder claiming a six point win. 

Kye Savage led the Thunder and the game in scoring, with 20 points off the bench while Fabijan Krslovic added 18. 

Waverley's top scorer was Dexter Kernich-Drew with 14, a rough night at the office for anyone in a Falcons uniform. 

WAVERLEY 63 (Kernich-Drew 14, Dillon 13, Lewis 11) 

NW TASMANIA 69 (Savage 20, Krslovic 18, Kenyon and Macdonald 8) 

 

Ringwood Hawks (98) def by Frankston Blues (100)

A super close game to close out the slate, with Ringwood going down by a single possession. 

Kyle Daggett led the Hawks in scoring with 29 points, while Emmett Naar had a spectacular 24 points and 12 assists. 

Daniel Trist led the Blues with 26 points, but it was a win via committee, as five players scored at least 12 points. 

RINGWOOD 98 (Daggett 29, Naar 24, Guers 19) 

FRANKSTON 100 (Trist 26, Stith 23, Barker 17)
