Round 13 was well underway in the NBL1 South Saturday, check out how all the games went below:

HOBART CHARGERS 73 defeated GEELONG SUPERCATS 69

Geelong came in as favourites tonight but were stunned on their home floor as they were upset by the Chargers 69-73.

Taylah Simmons played her role for the Supercats with 22 points and 9 rebounds, but unfortunately, her teammates struggled to join her as the team shot a combined 38% from the field.

Hobart after starting the season with 1 win and 13 losses have now won 3 of their last 4 games, this is arguably their most impressive win of the season.

Angela Tompkins was the player of the game for the Chargers with her 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Sharna Thompson backed up Tompkins with 21 points of her own.

CASEY CAVALIERS 98 defeated SANDRINGHAM SABRES 82

With both teams fighting to keep their finals hopes alive, Casey ran away with the 98-82 victory on the road with a strong 29-19 finish in the fourth quarter.

The home team were right in the game at three-quarter time but struggled on the defensive end throughout the whole contest which proved to be too much at the end of the night. The Sabres were led by Brittany Smart who had 24 points including six of ten from beyond the arc, along with Funda Nakkasoglu who contributed with 23 points.

The most impressive part of this victory from the Cavaliers was the number of contributors on the offensive end. Six Casey players ended up with 14 points or more, led by Abby Bishop who fought hard all game and was rewarded with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

KNOX RAIDERS 89 defeated FRANKSTON BLUES 50

Knox put on a clinic on the defensive end from the start to finish off this battle, continuing the trend of away teams coming away with the win as they blew out Frankston 89-50.

The Raiders ensured the home crowd never impacted this game as they never allowed the Blues to reach 16 points in any quarter. The defensive masterclass was led by Klara Wischer (4 steals and 2 blocks), and Leah Santomaggio (3 blocks and 1 steal). On the offensive end, Alicia Froling was too strong for the Blues as she was the game's highest scorer with 26 points.

For Frankston, Kate Gaze led the team with 13 points but unfortunately with 22 turnovers as a team the Blues could never get themselves back in the game.

BENDIGO BRAVES 82 defeated NUNAWADING SPECTRES 70

The top of the table Bendigo Braves continued their dominant form away from home against a tough Nunawading Spectres.

The Spectres played an impressive opening three quarters which saw them only trailing by 2 points heading into the final period. But when the game was on the line the Braves lifted another gear winning the fourth quarter 22-12.

Alice Kunek led the charge for the Spectres, providing the home team with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. She was joined by Megan Mullings who added 19 points to the scoreboard for Nunawading.

However, in the end, the Braves were too strong as expected and were led by the superstars Megan McKay and Kelly Wilson. Megan McKay finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Kelly Wilson fell one rebound short of a triple-double with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 12 assists.

RINGWOOD HAWKS 70 defeated DANDENONG RANGERS 58

Ringwood continued their win streak and remain in second place on the ladder with the 70-58 win in Dandenong. The Rangers put up a strong fight for most of the game against a tough Hawks outfit, however losing the third quarter 8-22 eliminated the chances of a potential upset.

Emilee Harmon’s 20 points and 8 rebounds weren’t enough as her teammates struggled from the field against Ringwood’s ruthless defence.

Digna Strautmane was the player of the game for the Hawks with her 22 points and 13 rebounds, followed by Marta Hermida who finished her night with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

KEILOR THUNDER 76 defeated DIAMOND VALLEY EAGLES 46

Keilor got the job done at home, blowing out the struggling Eagles 76 to 46. In a must-win game, the Thunder found themselves in a battle at half-time as they had a 2-point advantage at the main break. However, a dominant 44-16 second half saw them blow out the Eagles as they needed to do.

Sophie Burrows was Diamond Valley’s best player on the night (18 points and 7 rebounds), but the Eagles as a collective struggled again only shooting 26% from the field.

The Thunder on the other hand were led by the duo of Monique Andriuolo and Madeleine Garrick who combined for 46 points, equaling Diamond Valley’s total score.

ELTHAM WILDCATS 91 defeated KILSYTH COBRAS 77

This one was set to be a great game, with both teams needing the win to keep their finals hopes alive. In the end, Eltham proved to be too good as they won 91-77 on enemy territory.

Carly Turner gave everything she had for the Cobras with her 33 points and 13 rebounds in just 31 minutes of play. Other contributors included Chloe Bibby (16 points) and Georgia Booth (10 points).

Their opponents, the Wildcats, were missing their star Anneli Maley but Korinne Campbell stepped up to fill that void as she starred in this contest with her 31 points and 17 rebounds. Haley Leidel also filled up the stat sheet with her 21 points and 9 rebounds for the visitors.

MT GAMBIER PIONEERS 76 defeated LAUNCESTON TORNADOES 62

Entering this match-up the Pioneers and Tornadoes both sat inside the top 5 spots on the ladder which set up a huge encounter in Mount Gambier. The hosts came out of the blocks with no remorse winning the opening period 32-8, which in the end was the difference in their 76-62 win.

Launceston was stunned in the opening quarter but settled after quarter time. Unfortunately, for the visitors, the damage was already done, and the margin was too large to come back from. The Tornadoes were led by their superstar Keely Froling who had 21 points and 12 rebounds, as well as Mariah Payne who finished the night with 23 points and 7 rebounds.

The Pioneers though were too good for Froling, Payne and the rest of Launceston as Cassandra Brown couldn’t miss with her scoring a game-high 25 points. Jasmin Howe also had herself a night with 17 points of her own.
