Ringwood Hawks 71 def Melbourne Tigers 56

The Ringwood Hawks have handed the Melbourne Tigers its second consecutive loss thanks to tight defence and strong rebounding.
It was a close matchup from the outset, with neither side able to create much separation in the first term.
Ringwood was able to pull ahead after the quarter-time break in part because of strong bench play from Demi Skinner.
Skinner led all scorers with 18 points, with 11 of them coming in the first half.
On the other side, Zitina Aokuso was dominating the game for Melbourne in all facets other than scoring.
The star Tiger tallied 13 first half rebounds and made an impact inside defensively, but couldn’t find her range shooting the ball, scoring just five points on 10 attempts in the opening 20 minutes.
The Hawks looked as though it would take an eight point lead into the second half, however a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Monique Conti; her fourth deep make on the half, cut the lead to just five.
Despite the Conti triple, Melbourne could not find any momentum in the third term due to the stingy defence on display from Ringwood.
The Hawks held Melbourne to just nine third quarter points while scoring 22 of its own.
Leading by 18 points at the outset of the final term, Ringwood weathered a tough shooting last 10 minutes to ride out the home victory.
The win is the Hawks sixth of the year and will move the side into the top eight.
