Waverley Falcons 64 def Geelong Supercats 61
The Geelong Supercats have lost its second game in as many nights by three points, this time going down to the Waverley Falcons on the road.
Each side fought for control in the opening term, with Waverley leading early 11-5, however the Supercats were able to push in front to close the term and establish a lead the side would hold for much of the game.
Ball movement and unselfishness was clearly high on the priorities list coming into the contest for Geelong.
The side tallied 20 assists on 21 made baskets, with all eight players that received court time scoring a basket.
This well-rounded attack kept the Falcons at bay for the first three quarters, however it would not last long enough for Geelong to secure the win.
Waverley soared back into the lead in the final term on the back of some great play from Aneta Bandilovska.
The Falcons guard scored 26 points to top all scorers in the winning effort.
Melbourne Tigers 106 def Mt Gambier Pioneers 64
The Melbourne Tigers have gotten back in the win column after thrashing the winless Mt Gambier Pioneers at home on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the blowout the game would ultimately become, the first 15 minutes of action were closely contested.
The Pioneers kept the game close thanks in part to some nice play from Jasmin Howe (20 points) and Hannah Young (10 points, 12 rebounds), however once the Tigers kicked its scoring rhythm into gear, Mt Gambier could only watch as the game rocketed out of reach.
Over the final 25 minutes of the game, Melbourne outscored the Pioneers 80-39.
The Tigers’ starting trio of Geraldine McCorkell, Monique Conti and Isabella Brancatisano combined for 64 points of its own, equaling the Pioneers final score.
Nunawading Spectres 106 def Dandenong Rangers 82
The Nunawading Spectres have ridden a wave of momentum from its exciting Saturday night win, dominating the Dandenong Rangers in front of its home fans.
Apart from a brief period in the opening term, the Spectres held a comfortable lead over Dandenong.
Nunawadings main advantage came on the interior, with the Spectres out-rebounding Dandenong 50-23.
This allowed the home side to take control of the game and put a stop to any momentum the Rangers looked to put together.
While Dandenong’s duo of Dallas Loughbridge (27 points) and Emilee Harmon (23 points) tried their best to reduce the lead, they were consistently matched by Nunawading.
The Spectres quartet of Izzy Wright, Rachel Brewster, Penine Davidson and Louise Brown all scored 20 points or more, helping keep Dandenong at bay and securing the victory.
