Frankston Blues have announced Lucas Barker will join the Blues for the upcoming NBL1 South Season.
Highly regarded for his talents in the point guard position, Barker will rejoin former championship teammate, now head coach Andrew Harms.
In 2019, Barker was selected for the NBL1 All Stars (Thailand) team, after averaging 15.7 points and 6.7 assists per game with the Dandenong Rangers.
Coach Harms spoke about Barker joining the Blues.
“We are thrilled to have Lucas onboard at the Blues,” Harms said.
“He has been one of the premier point guards in SEABL and now NBL1.
“I played with Lucas and know how much of a special player he is and the value he brings to a team.
“He has instantly slotted into the group dynamic and his leadership and on-court play have been exceptional.
“We look forward to Lucas not only leading on the court but also being a mentor to our next generation of Blues NBL1 players.”
Barker spoke about the change.
“I am excited to be joining Frankston for the 2021 season,” he said.
“After speaking to Wayne, Andrew and the rest of the coaching staff, I am excited to see what this talented team can do for the upcoming season.
“While 2020 was challenging for everyone, to be able to get back on the court and compete for a championship, is an exciting prospect for this team.
“I can’t wait to see the stands filled with lots of old and young.”
