After a dominant campaign with the Eagles, Machar was picked up by Melbourne United where he played eight games in his debut season.
With the Eagles, Machar averaged 15.2 points and 7.8 rebounds and shot 54 percent from the field -- falling short to the eventual NBL1 Central champions the South Adelaide Panthers in the Preliminary Finals.

In his season review with Melbourne United, Machar set himself and the team some ambitious goals for the 2023 NBL1 Central season starting on March 25.
“I believe I’ll have a bigger season than what I had last year. I’ve got some individual goals,” Machar told United.
“But the main one is to win a conference championship and a national championship.
“Individually, I’d like to win Defensive Player of The Year. I think I’ve only gotten better and stronger on that end of the floor after all the work I’ve put in.”
Machar joins Adam Doyle, Greg Mays, Brandon Brine, Brad Rathjen and Jake Rios for the men’s Forestville squad.
