There were a host of stunning individual performance in the last Saturday night of the NBL1 South regular season with Anneli Maley putting up 27 points and 22 rebounds, Maddie Garrick scoring 30 points and Tess Madgen hitting 40 just to get things started.

There were a host of stunning individual performance in the last Saturday night of the NBL1 South regular season with Anneli Maley putting up 27 points and 22 rebounds, Maddie Garrick scoring 30 points and Tess Madgen hitting 40 just to get things started.

The last round of the NBL1 South regular season began back on Friday night with the Launceston Tornadoes beating the Hobart Chargers 76-67 and the Ballarat Miners defeating the Mount Gambier Pioneers.

Then on Saturday night, there were victories for the Frankston Blues, Eltham Wildcats, Nunawading Spectres, Waverley Falcons, Keilor Thunder, Bendigo Braves and Knox Raiders.

The Frankston Blues were able to hold out the Diamond Valley Eagles to open the Saturday action in the NBL1 South for Round 16 as they scored their fifth win of 2022, winning 72-69.

Kate Gaze finished with 25 points for Frankston and Darcee Garbin 22 points and 16 rebounds. Sophie Burrows put up 23 points and nine rebounds for Diamond Valley, and Hope Terdich 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Eltham Wildcats gave themselves a chance at two wins this weekend to close their NBL1 South season by beating the Sandringham Sabres 97-68 on the road.

Anneli Maley was outstanding once more for Eltham with 27 points and 22 rebounds while Bec Pizzey added 27 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Jarry delivered 15 points and seven rebounds in the last game of her career for Sandringham.

The Nunawading Spectres were then able to maintain their hold on a top four position by beating the Melbourne Tigers 72-56 at home on Saturday night.

Megan Mullings finished with 22 points and eight rebounds for the Spectres while Lily Carmody fought valiantly for the Tigers with 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

The Waverley Falcons consolidated their place in the top eight on the back of a commanding 85-53 road victory against the Dandenong Rangers.

Bec Cole top-scored in the win for Waverley with 22 points while Renae Mokrzycki added 20 points and eight rebounds. Luisa Fakalata put up 16 points and five assists for Dandenong, and Gemma Potter 15 points and seven rebounds.

Two teams playing for pride in the last round of the NBL1 South season locked horns at Keilor Stadium with the Keilor Thunder defeating the Casey Cavaliers 91-65.

Maddie Garrick was superb for Keilor with 30 points, nine rebounds and four assists with Aneta Bandilovska adding 16 points, nine boards and five assists. Rachel Bell led the charge for the Cavs with 25 points and seven assists.

The Bendigo Braves locked away the NBL1 South Women's regular season championship on Saturday night beating the Kilsyth Cobras 96-81 away from home.

Tess Madgen came up huge for the Braves with 40 points and eight assists while Megan McKay added 17 points and eight rebounds. Lauren Scherf did her best to Kilsyth in the contest with 29 points, 19 rebounds and five assists.

The Knox Raiders held out the fast finishing Ringwood Hawks in a thriller 66-64 away from home on Saturday night with both teams gearing up for playoff campaigns.

Alicia Froling was terrific for Knox with 21 points and 15 rebounds while Digna Strautmane put up 14 points and nine rebounds for Ringwood.

The NBL1 South regular season will now wrap u on Sunday afternoon with the Ballarat Miners at home to the Bendigo Braves, the Knox Raiders taking on Keilor Thunder, the Eltham Wildcats facing the Dandenong Rangers, the Melbourne Tigers playing the Frankston Blues, Waverley Falcons taking on the Mount Gambier Pioneers, and the Casey Cavaliers hosting the Geelong Supercats.
