Quiet success for re-signing Hawks veteran

Sport is filled with many types of characters, from outgoing egomaniacs to quiet and modest types. But the Ringwood Hawks have one who is just too hard to pigeonhole. That is the Hawks’ own Trevor Latham.

Sport is filled with many types of characters, from outgoing egomaniacs to quiet and modest types. But the Ringwood Hawks have one who is just too hard to pigeonhole. That is the Hawks’ own Trevor Latham.

This week Latham announced that he will be back for with Ringwood for another season and the veteran centre is looking as fit as he has since he started senior basketball as a teenager.

“I was determined to stay fit and not just sit on the couch last year,” Latham said.

“So I used the time to ride my bike and swim and as we start pre-season I can already feel the benefits.”

Since arriving at the Hawks back in 2014, Latham has shown himself to be a contradiction in many ways but his consistency and commitment to the game has been a key reason that he and the Hawks have enjoyed great success.

“He never complains but he is incredibly competitive, he is happy to help others succeed but also wants to be on the floor, he is quiet but also provides great leadership and he looks so calm but just under the surface he is fired up and ready to go. That’s Trev,” Ringwood coach Ken Harrington said.

“He is a very important part of what we do and it is great to have him back, fit and firing.”
